About This Project

WHEN: ONE ARCHITECTURE WEEK 2015

The main exhibition of the festival was connected with its main idea. “Uncommon River” was utilized as a speculative name for experiences and thoughts that bring us closer to each other and to an understanding of the common(s) around the river. As Maritsa physically opened space for collectively producing a space and rhythm of the common, the exhibition documented what makes the river uncommon. The exhibition was divided into three sections: the diverse „Phenomena on Maritsa; the “Design and Planning” of the river so far; and the ‘New/Future’ relations and possibilities for the use of its spaces, projected by the people of Plovdiv. Maritsa often extended to distant contexts, within the exhibition. “Phenomena” also presented myths and stories for rivers from other worlds, “Design” displayed different approaches to planning rivers – from a landscape of extensive possibilities to a focus on redevelopment and sustainability.
